„A szellemből anyag, majd újra szellem: ímé a könyv e köznapi csoda. Elérhető lesz az elérhetetlen, ha fölveszed, s le nem teszed soha.” (Csorba Győző)

Baranya Network

Our department, the Department of Baranya County Network, has been functioning as the successor of the late Department of Methodology (then Regional Department) since April 2010.

Top priorities:

  • The System of Library Supply Service (KSZR) –; mobile library supply in Baranya County, both installed and library bus;
  • Ethnicity Supply Centre (NEK) – custody of German, Croatian and Romani documents;
  • Tenders, events, trainings – organization and transaction of National Library Days, professional programs, courses of basic and intermediate levels, in close cooperation with the library’s Department of Public Civilization.

The System of Library Supply Service (KSZR):

Our Library organizes the library supply of the county’s settlements in the role of county library, helping the work of the public libraries of other towns, offering professional help to independent and/or public municipal libraries.

The Library works together in close cooperation with several town libraries (of Pécsvárad, Sásd, Sellye, Siklós, Szigetvár) to supply libraries in the county’s 251 settlements thanks to normative subsidies. While other supplying libraries serve as supplying places for 111 settlements, the Csorba Győző Library serves for 112. According to the agreements made with settlements: it purchases holdings, processes and registers them in the online catalogue (Corvina, OPAC) and transports the documents to the local governments. At the same time – on demand – rotates holdings within a micro-region. Every micro-region has its own rapporteur, who’s in daily connection with the mayors and librarian colleagues.

Since 2010, the Department’s associates also use a 13 m Mercedes saddle tractor ‘Library Bus’ to supply inhabitants thanks to the “TIOP-1.2.3-08/1-2008-0021 Library Bus Project”. Besides the possibility of borrowing documents, this modern vehicle also takes cultural programs and high-speed broadband satellite internet connection to settlements with fewer than 1000 residents. Since 2011 the number of settlements supplied by the Library Bus is 28. The Library Bus visits the required settlements in every 2 weeks (reaches 3 settlements a day) and there’s 1.5 hour opening time. The Library Bus supplies from Thursday to Sunday on odd weeks and from Wednesday to Sunday on even weeks.

Registration is free of charge thanks to the tender. Readers get paper cards with barcodes in the Library Bus. If they show this card at the Knowledge Centre, they will get the plastic card used in the Centre, also free of charge. The vehicle can be approached with the help of a ramp. Readers with disabilities are assisted by reader and magnifying softwares.
